A common misconception about hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) is that because data services are software-defined, the hardware doesn’t matter. It’s easy to see why—the software driving HCI solutions such as the Dell EMC XC Series (in this case, Nutanix software) is exceptional. It efficiently manages data and communications across a cluster of nodes and storage tiers, keeping the cluster and virtual machines (VMs) up and running, delivering optimal performance and availability. Software-defined infrastructure is changing the way data services are delivered, making companies more efficient and agile, and reducing costs. How Snapper Further Protects Data in Amazon S3 Using CWP for Storage Abstract: Snapper, a New Zealand-based company that develops custom account-based solutions, was creating an online concessions payment program for local students and needed a way to enhance the security of their personal information on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The solution had to further protect online student profiles and associated payment details stored in Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) against malware and threats. Snapper chose Symantec Cloud Workload Protection for Storage (CWP for Storage) for its advanced malware protection, elastic scalability, and simple deployment requiring only a few hours.

In an innovation-powered economy, ideas need to travel at the speed of thought. Yet even as our ability to communicate across companies and time zones grows rapidly, people remain frustrated by downtime and unanticipated delays across the increasingly complex grid of cloud-based infrastructure, data networks, storage systems, and servers that power our work.

Applications are the engines that drive today’s digital businesses. When the infrastructure that powers those applications is difficult to administer, or fails, businesses and their IT organizations are severely impacted. Traditionally, IT assumed much of the responsibility to ensure availability and performance. In the digital era, however, the industry needs to evolve and reset the requirements on vendors. HPE Nimble Storage has broken away from convention and transformed how storage is managed and supported with the HPE InfoSight predictive analytics platform. HPE engaged ESG to conduct a quantitative survey of the HPE Nimble Storage installed base, as well as non-HPE Nimble Storage customers, to better assess how HPE InfoSight positively impacts customer environments. Both HPE InfoSight telemetry data and ESG’s quantitative survey data show that the benefit delivered to HPE Nimble Storage customers is significant, driving: • 79% lower IT operational expenses. • 73% fewer trouble ti

Most companies would love to move enterprise applications to the public cloud and cut the costs, complexities, and limitations of current infrastructure. Major public cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud have done well in enabling web, mobile, and content applications in the cloud. These are cloud-native applications designed to use cloud “object” storage, and object storage is very popular for use cases such as backup and disaster recovery. However, enterprise applications typically require “block” storage. Although native cloud block storage exists, it has several shortcomings, particularly around reliability, durability, and lack of data mobility. So, enterprise applications have largely stayed on-premises or in private clouds. Now there’s an innovative new way to move enterprise applications to the public cloud while actually reducing risks and tradeoffs. It’s called multicloud storage, and it’s an insanely simple, reliable, secure w
