In a competitive market, a company’s employees can make or break these crucial relationships through their interactions with customers. That’s why businesses — from wealth management and insurance firms to banks and credit unions — are investing in automated workforce solutions to help them attract, engage, and retain top talent while controlling costs and driving exceptional service. Managing a diverse workforce of exempt and nonexempt employees across back-office, contact center, and frontline operations is no easy feat. Smart technologies are a force multiplier for public safety agencies, allowing them to serve growing populations even as public spending remains constrained. The Internet of Everything (IoE) provides the connective tissue in this evolving operational environment — not only bringing together objects embedded with electronics, software and sensors, but making them work together in the service of better policing. The IoE makes it possible to collect data and share it via the cloud, uniting disparate jurisdictions, agencies and ranks of command in positive ways. These smart and connected technologies promote collaboration and transparency among public safety agencies, revolutionizing how police, fire, courts and corrections do some of the nation’s most important work.

You know every tax dollar counts: The post-recession drop in funding coupled with mounting financial commitments and legislative demands for improved access to information leave no choice but to make operations more efficient. Agenda automation software eliminates manual tasks associated with creating, distributing, and publishing agendas, reduces the prep time (by as much as 50% or more) and associated costs of meetings while introducing a flexibility that makes tight deadlines easier to manage. The impact is far reaching, from improved transparency to freeing up staff time to work on other priorities. It not only pays for itself in paper savings, it brings money back into the budget—from $300 to $1000 per meeting, depending on the size of the organization. Learn more about how easy it can be to automate your meeting agendas, and what you can get back as a result.

Interconnecting three or more sites across a metro or wide area network has traditionally been accomplished via a hub and spoke network topology using Private Lines, Frame Relay or IP VPNs over the Internet. Ethernet services support hub and spoke topologies but also support an “any-to-any” network topology similar to a LAN but delivered over a wide area. This latter capability is unique to Ethernet services and cannot be cost effectively delivered using legacy point-to-point technologies such as Frame Relay or IP VPNs. This paper discusses two options for multi-site connectivity using Ethernet services. One option discusses the classical hub and spoke topology using Ethernet Virtual Private Lines (EVPL). The other option discusses the “any-to-any” topology using an Ethernet Private LAN (EP-LAN) service. Through examples, the paper illustrates the capabilities of the two approaches and their benefits.
